Judo was founded by Jigoro Kano and has become both a traditional martial art and modern Olympic sport. It makes a great form of exercise that can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.

Those who would like to compete and win trophies will be glad to know that there are many contests organized that can be entered.

Those wanting to keep fit or learn a practical form of self-defence are also well catered for.

Juniors Judo

The Juniors play a very important (and quite noisy!) part of the club. The martial arts are a good way for children and young adults to learn confidence, make new friends and have fun. The lessons learned can also have positive benefits ranging from increasing fitness, learning self defence skills and self discipline.

We run special sessions for juniors starting from 7 years of age. The sessions are designed with fun in mind and combine exercise, martial arts and games into a single session run by experienced instructors. The club has a long history of producing county, area and national medallists but competing is optional. Regular gradings are held at the club for those who wish to advance up the judo ladder.
